Artist of the Month

Korundi House of Culture, Rovaniemi

Everyday at 11-18

Hanna Kanto is an artist living in Northern Sweden. She studied art at
the University of Lapland, where she graduated with a Master of Arts
degree in 2007. Since then, she has been living and working as an
artist in the northern parts of Sweden and Finland.

Kanto’s research is based on the interactions of the North and her artistic work. She
opens up to the Nordic aspect through her participation in everyday
life; livelihoods are a part of her work. She is fascinated by the
authenticity of reindeer herding and its strong relationship with
nature. Life in the North also clearly illustrates the conflicts
between modern life and old traditions. Her work includes painting and
building installations. Materials for installations are mainly
collected from the hills and from reindeer butchery.

Opening with coffee on 30th of July at 5pm at the Korundi café, welcome!
